Those are the words of Keni Thomas, country music star, author and former U.S. Army Ranger involved in the mission to find and capture an elusive criminal warlord-- Mohammed Farrah Aideed-- in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993. This 18-hour fire-fight was later recounted in the highly successful book and movie Blackhawk Down.

Keni uses his experience to convey the message that any effective team is dependent on each and evry individual, and each member plays a crucial role in the team's success.

Thomas was the key note speaker at the General Session of the heavily attended conference of the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO), held recently in Chicago, IL. He made himself available for personal photos with IJO members after his presentation.

"Keni was a really powerful speaker", sai Renai Keairns, "who captivated us with his story of extraordinary individuals and how they fought to bring eachother home. He truely inspires people to achieve greatness by stressing the importance of outstanding leadership at every level, even if the only person you are leading is yourself."

"When we previewed Keni as a potential speaker i knew immediately he would have a huge impact on our members," stated IJO president and CEO Jeff Roberts. "All of us at IJO were so excited and so proud to have him with us."

Vince and Renai Keairns are from Fort Thomas Jewelers in Highland Heights and is the areas exclusive IJO member. IJO holds semi-annual conferences offering advanced education to it's members as well as buying oppertunities a store would not have outside of the group.
